Sydney

Little Miss Sydney, a 9+ year old, 10-pound miniature Dachshund, is the perfect little sidekick. We are sure this was her job before something happened and she ended up at the shelter in September.

She loves everyone she meets (especially men, it seems) including other dogs, whom she tries to kiss whenever possible. She’s past the playing stage but her foster home has 2 large dogs so she may be more playful with someone her own size. She loves to be near her humans whether you’re taking it easy or working in the home office. Her favorite place is in her blankets while her foster dad is working on zoom or other online meetings. She has not been tested around kids but we can’t imagine a problem.

Unfortunately, her hunting instinct is too strong to be around cats, which is the only reason her foster parents can’t keep her. She definitely has separation anxiety and would do best with someone who is home or can take her along with them. She gets panicky in a crate but does better in a play pen/play yard.

Sydney is housebroken but does not cry to go out. She just needs to be taken out regularly and she goes immediately. She has an occasional BM accident when there is snow. She loves to burrow under blankets and likes to sleep on the bed. She sleeps through the night and barely moves.

She is up to date on vaccines (no lepto per rescue). She had eye and ear infections which have been treated. The vet says she has corneal edema which causes a blue hue and he has recommended an ophthalmology consult. She is able to see ok. She had her dental cleaning with 4 tooth extractions in December. She has some arthritis which causes an occasional left front leg limp.

Syd loves to ride in the car and dog stroller. She can walk on a leash but not distance walking. Instead, she prefers to explore around the yard a little (in nice weather).

If you have a special place in your heart for senior dogs, you will love Sydney! She is full of love and deserves a home where she can return that love.
